    From traditional to leading

    The world of wood and building materials may seem traditional, but today's customers expect a digital shopping experience that is anything but that. To remain a market leader in the online sale of high-quality wood, GevenHout.nl decided to elevate their e-commerce infrastructure. They opted for a composable setup with Odoo as a robust backbone, and Elanq as their partner for this digital transformation.

    The cause: Growth requires freedom

    GevenHout.nl, a well-established name for years, noticed that their existing e-commerce platform was beginning to hinder their rapid growth and ambition for innovation. The platform had been a solid start, but it lacked the flexibility to quickly respond to new customer demands and the specific requirements of their B2B clients. The webshop and the sales department were two separate worlds. Advising online customers was cumbersome, and orders were manually entered into Odoo.

    The wish was clear: it had to be more efficient, faster, and above all, the digital experience had to be just as high-quality as the wood they supply. The main drivers for this change were:

    • The best user experience in the outdoor wood market.

    • A seamlessly combined online and offline customer experience.

    • A scalablesolution that initiates and facilitates growth.

    The Elanq solution

    Elanq, represented by Bas Koenen, guided GevenHout in the implementation of the headless architecture. Odoo served as the powerful ERP system in the background. The front-end, what the customer sees, was decoupled and rebuilt. This gave us the freedom to develop a lightning-fast and visually appealing webshop, exactly as GevenHout and their customers envisioned.

    Our composable setup for GevenHout.nl included the following strategic components:

    • Odoo as the ultimate Backbone: Odoo was and remains the central hub for all business processes: from sales, order picking, production, purchasing to CRM and invoicing. The data remained consistent and manageable here. In terms of database, it's very simple: There is only one truth, and it exists in Odoo.

    • Custom Headless Frontend: A brand new, lightning-fast front-end was developed with an Alokai frontend, fully tailored to the B2B and B2C customer journeys of GevenHout.nl. This included among other things:

      • Custom product page where all lengths (product variants) and their stock are directly visible

      • From knitted filter options on category pages for attributes such as category, wood type, profile, and dimensions

      • A dashboard in the corporate style for real-time overview of orders, quotes, and invoices.

      • Prices adjustable per customer, VAT, Dutch and German website

      • Smart caching mechanism for fast loading times and flexibility

    • Streamlined ordering process: A clear and fast checkout process, including flexible delivery options, seamlessly integrated with Odoo Shipping Methods.

    • Integration with Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok: A product feed ensures that all relevant aspects of a wooden plank are shared with the algorithms of social media platforms.

    By choosing the headless Odoo approach with Elanq, GevenHout.nl has laid the foundation for a flexible, scalable, and future-proof digital platform. It is not just a website; it is a complete digital engine that drives their business forward.
